Mbo State Constituency 2027: ANPA Calls On Stakeholders To Support Pastor Osuini-Abasi Alfred

…as he promises People-centric leadership

The leadership of the Amalgamated Newspaper Publishers Association (ANPA), Akwa Ibom State has called on stakeholders, Mbo people, the APC in both Mbo and the state levels as well as the state governor to consider and nominate Pastor Osuini-Abasi Alfred for the Mbo State Constituency job.

The call came during the general meeting of the association where the President-General, Pastor Osuini-Abasi Alfred, declared his intention to contest the 2027 Mbo State Constituency seat in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly. Pastor Osuini-Abasi Alfred, while addressing members during the meeting held at the residence of the ANPA Board of Trustees Chairman, Comrade Ernest Akpan at Mbikpong Ikot Edim, explained that his aspiration is primarily a call to service and a desire to contribute positively to the development of Mbo Local Government Area and the state at large.

In his remarks during the meeting, Pastor Osuini-Abasi Alfred appealed to his colleagues in the media to support the dissemination of his message of service and commitment to good governance. He also reiterated his respect for the zoning arrangement in the Oro-speaking local government areas which, according to him, presents an opportunity for inclusive representation.

Several stakeholders who spoke at the meeting shared goodwill messages, encouraging him to continue consultations and maintain respect for democratic processes. They also emphasised the need for unity within the media community and the importance of responsible communication.

ANPA therefore reiterates that it remains a professional body committed to ethical journalism, neutrality and the promotion of democratic values. The meeting was attended by members of the association and other media stakeholders, during which issues concerning the growth and welfare of the newspaper publishing community in the state were also discussed.

Eminent personalities who spoke and gave their goodwill messages at the event among them included the Special Assistant to the governor on Local Media and publisher of the Town Crier Newspaper, Comrade Ernest Akpan who also doubles as the BOT Chairman; former Chairmen of the NUJ, Comrade Sunday Antai and Elder Patrick Albert; NUJ Chairman, Comrade Nsibiet John; the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Local Media, Comrade Amos Etuk; Comrade Abasiekong; Ephraim Ikpe of the Waves Newspaper.
