2027: COPDEM, ADC Ties ‘Nuptial Knots’ In A’Ibom

…as COPDEM empties over ten thousand members to ADC

Ahead of 2027 general elections, the Akwa Ibom State branch of a political group under the aegis of the Coalition for the Protection of Democracy (COPDEM) and the State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have signed a pact of mutual interest and understanding.

The pact, which was signed in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital by the duo of the state Chairman of COPDEM, Elder Iniubong Jackson and his ADC counterpart, Hon. Duke Dick under the watchful eyes of the state executive of both parties was a memorial event.

Speaking after the signing exercise, Elder Iniubong Jackson while appreciating ADC family for accepting the alliance, promised to work together, noted that all members of COPDEM in the state with over ten thousand members would be emptied into the ADC for a formidable team. He added that COPDEM is spread over the 31 local government of the state.

Elder Jackson further explained that the role of COPDEM is similar to that of a civil right group that monitors political affairs and works with support groups across Nigeria’s 36 states.

In his remarks, the ADC State Chairman, Hon. Dick whose face was beamed with joy and a sense of satisfaction welcomed COPDEM members into the ADC and promised to create space to COPDEM members to be part of ADC executive in state, local government chapter and wards. Hon. Dick Added that as a political party, ADC is willing to receive more into its fold.

Speaking to Century Newsfront, the State Publicity Secretary of COPDEM, Dr Saviour Ekpe said that the alliance of the two parties is the beginning of a new era in Nigeria. He noted that COPDEM and ADC share common ideology of transparency, honesty, accountability and service.

Dr Ekpe, a media executive called on Nigerians who are desirous of positive change to embrace the collaboration by registering as members of the ADC and expressed the hope that with the caliber of men and women that make up COPDEM and ADC, Nigeria will bounce back and reclaim her rightful place in the comity of nations.

It could be recalled that a significant milestone was created in the penultimate week during the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between COPDEM National Chairman, Prince Rwang Pam and the ADC National Chairman, Dr. Ralphs Okey Nwosu in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
