Henry Archibong Hails Gov Umo Eno’s Housing Initiative

…Says It Aligns With UN Dev. Goals

The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Housing, Rt. Hon. Dr. Henry Archibong, has underscored the state government’s commitment to dignified housing and sustainable development with the formal launch of the Judiciary Village Project, a landmark residential estate for Judges.

Delivering the project overview during the flag-off ceremony on Friday, at Ifa Ikot Okpon in Uyo Local Government Area, Dr. Archibong stated that the project is a strategic alignment with Governor Umo Eno’s broader vision of inclusive governance and infrastructure-led development that cuts across all classes.

The Commissioner noted that the Judiciary Village is not only a fulfillment of the Governor’s promise but also a reflection of the administration’s deliberate investment in human capital and institutional welfare. He disclosed that the 65,000 square meter estate will feature 50 fully serviced four-bedroom duplexes, each with boys’ quarters, perimeter fencing, internal roads, gated access, and other critical infrastructure to ensure a comfortable and secure living environment for judicial officers, adding that the housing policies aligns with the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals.

Furthermore, The Housing Commissioner praised Governor Umo Eno for his unwavering support and visionary leadership, emphasizing that the Governor’s focus on the welfare of the judiciary and other arms of government is what drives the ministry’s execution of impactful projects.

Meanwhile, Governor Umo Eno, who performed the groundbreaking ceremony, described the Judiciary Village as a signature project of his administration and reaffirmed his commitment to replicating similar estates for members of the Legislature and the Executive Council. He acknowledged the judiciary as a vital pillar in sustaining peace and governance in a democratic setting.

In the same vein, the Chief Judge of Akwa Ibom State, Hon. Justice Ekaette Obot, expressed deep appreciation to the state government for prioritizing judicial welfare. She commended the Commissioner for Housing and his team for the professionalism and foresight embedded in the project design.

Engr. Uwem Okoko of Hensek Integrated Services, speaking on behalf of contractors, assured of quality and timely delivery, while the Chairman of Uyo Local Government Area, Dr. Uwemedimo Udo, described the project as a transformative milestone for the state and local community as well.
