A-two star general and President of Bright International Chaplaincy, Apostle (Dr) Tom Ekerendu narrowly escaped death on Monday morning, the 26th May 2025 by 3.30am after his routine quite time, he slept and woke up by 5.05am to meet with pangs in his heart, being so restless, he called on his wife who gave him the usual prompt attention and later put calls on friends, men and women of God for prayers since he was in unconscious state. The wife later called the BRICC noble family medical Director, Dr Mba who, when arrived, carried out preliminary tests and it was later discovered that he had a left heart failure. After series of prayers and prescribed medications, he came back to life.
Given the divine deliverance from untimely death, the family decided to stage a ‘thank God’ birthday, which they had earlier put off. It was on this premise that the Nigerian Military under the aegis of Nigerian Military Christian Fellowship (NMCF) Akwa Ibom State Chapter of whom he is their State Welfare Officer staged his 62nd birthday celebration to thank God for sparing his life in a miraculous way. This however, coincided on the date that Bright International Chaplain Corps (BRICC) hosted the Nigerian Military Christian Fellowship, Akwa Ibom Chapter 2025.
The event took place on June 21. 2025 at Jenefa Church, Ikpe, Essien Udium LGA was a day of singpraises to God for the great deliverance and was attended by all the military and paramilitary exco members including those from NMCF, NDLEA, NSCDC, NPF, CHAPOL, Correctional Service, Peace Corps among others.
The birthday lecture christened, ‘faithfulness in our Christian journey’ stressed that it’s high time for Christian unity as Jesus Christ prayed, he emphasized the importance of the Christian body to maintain revelational direction towards ourselves as our brothers’ keepers, added that Christians should learn to avoid self-centeredness in the Christian fold and in the world at-large.
In his remarks, the Chief celebrant, the President of Bright International Chaplaincy, Apostle (Dr) Tom Ekerendu flanked by his wife, Rev. (Mrs.) Mfonobong Ekerendu was full of praises to God for sparing his life and making him to witness his 62nd birthday in good health. He appreciated dignitaries who graced the event, noted that it shows their genuine love for God and the people of God. He called on Christian to extend their hands of fellowship to the needy in the society and reach out to the lost souls, “our Calling as Christian will not complete if we don’t extend our hands of fellowship to the needy in the society and most especially, the lost souls in other religions”.
Present at the event were among others, a retired senior, Lecturer University of Uyo, Apostle Prof. E. D. Udosen, who is the President (emeritus) of the St. Peter’s Apostolic Church in Ikot Ekpene Town as the father of the Day, he’s also the Acting VC Ritman University, Ikot Ekpene, one of the BRICC noble family Board Members, he equally represented the Christian Elders and Fathers of Faith in Nigeria which the celebrant is a Member; the Mother of the Day, Rev. (Mrs.) Josephine Okorie, who is the BRICC noble family Chief Matron and also the General Overseer of the Divine Truth International Church Ikot Ekpene Town; the State Coordinator of the Nigerian Military Christian Fellowship Akwa Ibom Chapter, Mr. Don with the Exco Members. other personalities such as MKO, Open Forum graced the event. The event featured cutting of birthday cake, Goodwill messages, prayer for the celebrant and his family, the church, Nigeria and Christian fold the world over.
