… Rallies Support for Gov. Umo Eno
As part of activities marking his one year in office, the Executive Chairman of Itu Local Government Area, Hon. Ubong Nkutt, on Tuesday inaugurated and handed over a newly constructed and furnished Forward Operating Base (FOB) at Ikot Adakpan Beach, Oku Iboku, Itu LGA.
The FOB, built to serve as a jetty observation post for the Joint Task Force (JTF), is a strategic response to persistent security threats faced by residents, particularly fishermen and farmers in the Oku Iboku waterways.
Commissioning the project, Commander of 2 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Brigadier General N. E. Okoloagu, commended the Chairman for what he described as a timely and impactful intervention. He noted that this was the first project he had been invited to commission since assuming office, praising the Chairman’s proactive support for security operations.
Speaking, Hon. Nkutt stated that the council was prompted to act following concerns raised by the Councillor representing Oku Iboku Ward 1, Hon. Samuel Inyang. After visiting the area, the Chairman said it became necessary to establish a permanent, well-equipped base to support joint security personnel on ground.
Hon. Nkutt thanked the people of Oku Iboku for supporting the government of His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno and further assured that more live touching projects will be delivered to the people in the course of time. He described the FOB project as a reflection of the council’s dedication to securing lives and property.
Speaking on behalf of the Community, Chairman of Oku Iboku Clan Council and Special Assistant to the Chairman on Chieftaincy and Boundary Matters, Mr. Daniel Archibong, applauded Hon. Nkutt’s foresight and leadership, conveying the community’s gratitude and praying for continued success in his administration.
The Chairman was accompanied to the commissioning by his Vice, Hon. Helen Nta, as well as other top officials of the local government council, and was received by the women, youths and traditional fathers of the area.
The project adds to the growing list of people focused interventions delivered by Hon. Ubong Nkutt in his first year in office, reinforcing his reputation for practical and responsive leadership.
