Solution of Nigeria Lies in Nigerians — Prof. George

The Uyo Area Superintendent of The Apostolic Church, Prof. Ime George has said that the solution to Nigeria’s problems can only come from Nigerians themselves, urging citizens to remain hopeful and steadfast in their faith.

Prof. George, who is also a former Field Superintendent of the Church, made the remark on Sunday while delivering a sermon during the Thanksgiving Service of the Amalgamated Newspaper Publishers Association (ANPA), held at The Apostolic Church, 69 Oron Road, Uyo.

He compared Nigeria’s current economic, political and social situation to that of Ghana during its difficult years, noting that despite the challenges, Ghana was later restored when a Ghanaian rose with vision and integrity to rescue the nation. “Nigeria will not see destruction,” Prof. George assured. “Let us expect the best to come out of Nigeria. I shall live to see the good of this country.”

The cleric encouraged Nigerians to look inward for solutions rather than depending solely on foreign interventions. He emphasized that with sincere leadership and a united citizenry, Nigeria’s fortunes would be restored.

Prof. George also charged members of ANPA and other media professionals to focus their reports on positive developments across the state and the country, saying the media hold a powerful role in shaping national perception and promoting unity.

The thanksgiving service, which drew members of the media community and church leaders, marked the official commencement of the ANPA Week 2025, a week-long event dedicated to reflection, thanksgiving, and renewed commitment to ethical journalism.

Members of the association attended the thanksgiving in good number including the President General, Pastor Osuini Alfred; Chairman Board of Trustees, Elder Ernest Akpan; State Chairman of the NUJ, Comrade Nsibiet John; Secretary General of ANPA, Deacon Ubong Etetor and other executive and members of ANPA. The event featured thanksgiving and donation to the church.
