…Says Service, a Sacred Responsibility

In a statement filled with gratitude, humility and political resolve, OBONG Jeremiah Akpan (OJA) has declared his intention to contest for the office of Governor of Akwa Ibom State in the 2027 gubernatorial election.
Speaking after being honored during the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Sensor Chapel Week for his humanitarian contributions, OJA described the recognition as more than an award, saying it represents a renewed call to greater service.
According to him, humility remains the true foundation of leadership and service to humanity. He emphasized that the honor was not merely a trophy to celebrate past achievements, but a reminder of the many lives still waiting to be touched and the many communities still in need of hope, empowerment and development.
OJA dedicated the award first to God Almighty, whom he credited as the source of his strength and grace. He also expressed appreciation to his family for their unwavering support throughout his journey of service and leadership. He extended heartfelt gratitude to members of the Real Help Initiative, the humanitarian platform he uses to touch lives across the State and beyond, applauding their commitment and sacrifice in helping deliver humanitarian assistance and social impact programs.
In what many observers may see as a defining political moment, OJA used the occasion to officially announce his bid for the governorship seat in 2027. He stated that service is a divine calling and that he is now prepared to answer a higher one through public leadership.
With confidence and optimism, he declared that by the grace of God, he believes he will emerge as the next Governor of Akwa Ibom State.
He further promised an inclusive administration focused on progress, development and opportunities for all citizens, adding that the future of the state must be one that leaves no one behind.
