The President of Real Help Initiatives, Obong Jeremiah Akpan, popularly known as OJA, has empowered about 400 Nigerians with grants and other forms of support valued at over ₦50 million.
The beneficiaries received assistance during an empowerment programme held at Government Primary School, Ikot Akata I, in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, under the theme “Prosperity 
Together.”
Speaking at the event, OJA said the initiative was motivated by his desire to alleviate hardship and create opportunities for vulnerable Nigerians to become self-reliant, “People are hungry. I am not here because I have so much; I am here because God has put it in my heart to touch the lives of the people,” he said.
He explained that the intervention covered business and agricultural grants, as 
well as support for persons living with disabilities. Others are the elderly, young people undergoing skills acquisition and students in tertiary institutions through scholarship opportunities.
OJA said his commitment to humanitarian service was inspired by the legacy of his late father, whom he described as a man dedicated to helping the needy.
He disclosed that the empowerment 
programmes were funded from his personal resources, stressing that he had not held political office but was engaged in legitimate business activities in the oil and gas sector. According to him, Real Help Initiatives was established to promote a culture of mutual support and create opportunities for people to improve their livelihoods.
The event attracted Royal fathers, past beneficiaries and other 
dignitaries, including Hon. Engr. Kingsley Udo Akpan, who is seeking election to represent Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections on the platform of the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA).
The organisers said the latest intervention further demonstrated Real Help Initiatives’ commitment to its “Prosperity Together” philosophy, with additional programmes expected to benefit vulnerable Nigerians.
