…As CP Azare vows to exterminate sodomy and other criminal activities

The new Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, FSI has swung into action upon arrival to the state in less than a week and arrested criminals engaged in various crimes and vowed to rid the state of their nefarious activities.
The Commissioner stated this in Ikot Akpan Abia, the command state headquarters during his maiden media briefing recently. He explained that the command will not folds its hands and see hoodlums destabilizing the peace of the state.
In a press statement issued and made available to Century Newsfront, the state police helmsman stated the arrest of persons with various criminal activities ranging from vandalization/stealing and conspiracy of Akwa Ibom fire service trucks; sodomy/unnatural offence; kidnapping, cultism/unlawful possession of firearm; cultism and attempted murder; fraud/impersonation; arrest of suspected car snatcher/recovery of stolen vehicle and arrest of kidnapping suspect and rescue of the victims among many others.
He warned strongly against breaking the state grazing law, senseless attacks on Fulani herdsmen, community crashes and also warned the youths to avoid being exploited by selfish individuals, “We are aware of issues such as Fulani herdsmen encroaching on farms and destroying crops, as well as senseless attacks on Fulani cows by troublemakers. Let it be clear that the Police will not fold their arms and allow miscreants to unleash terror on law-abiding citizens. The state has a law on grazing, and we will ensure full compliance with its provisions. Anyone arrested in connection with these crimes will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. We are also addressing the issue of communal clashes. As part of our strategic approach, we have begun profiling the sponsors of these clashes to ensure they are held accountable for their actions. The youth in these areas must be protected from exploitation by selfish individuals. However, to achieve our goals, we need the support and cooperation of all stakeholders, particularly traditional rulers, the media, and other partners in the state. Akwa Ibom must be free from all forms of criminal activity”.
CP Azare Further explained how the command busted a circle of criminal activities within Ewet Housing Estate, “In our collective resolved to combat crimes and criminality in the state we have arrested the total number of 10 tricycles operators operating in Ewet Housing Estate between the hours of 1:30am to 3 am in the Morning. These group of Tricycles operators specialize in conveying items stolen from the estate for the criminals, some equally operate during these hours mainly to either robbed residents, steals generators and other valuables from the residents or vandalize transformers and also steal armored cables”.
He called on the media, whom he described as partner in progress to collaborate with the command for effective policing so as to ensure safety of lives and property in the state, “I consider you all as partners in progress and look forward to a symbiotic relationship that will enable us to work together to maintain peace and security in our dear state. I intend to make this interaction a regular occurrence, so we can freely discuss and exchange ideas. Together, we can secure this state. We all know that security is paramount for any sustainable growth and development. I firmly believe that our collaboration is crucial in achieving this goal”. Watch out for detailed report on sodomy.
