First Lady Reacts To Sexual Harassment Allegations Against Senator Akpabio

Senator Oluremi Tinubu, wife of President Bola Tinubu, has addressed the ongoing controversy regarding the sexual harassment allegations made by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Ahead of International Women’s Day, Senator Tinubu highlighted that the Senate is a respected and mature institution. She expressed confidence that the lawmakers are handling the situation appropriately and effectively.

Having served in the Senate for 12 years, Senator Tinubu also took the opportunity to encourage women to take on leadership roles and assert themselves, stressing the importance of not allowing themselves to be marginalized. She urged women to stand firm in their authority and take charge in their professional environments.

Her comments come as the Senate faces mounting scrutiny over its handling of the sexual harassment allegations, with calls for a thorough investigation into the matter.

She said,  “I believe that Senate is doing what is needful.” She advised women to stand firm and assert their authority, saying, “You can always shut them down before they start.”
