The recent convocation ceremony at Peace Polytechnic in Abak, Akwa Ibom State was more than a celebration of academic achievement—it was a testament to leadership that inspires real societal transformation. At the forefront of this movement is Hon. Clement Jimbo, Member of the House of Representatives for Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency, whose exemplary public service continues to impact lives meaningfully.

A seasoned Quantity Surveyor and proud member of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, Hon. Jimbo hails from Ikot Oku Ubara in Ediene, Abak Local Government Area. His educational journey, spanning Army Children School II Calabar, West African People’s Institute, and the University of Uyo, has equipped him with the intellectual rigor and practical insight to lead effectively.

Since taking office, Hon. Jimbo’s leadership has been marked by massive empowerment, innovation, transparency, transformation and tangible impact. within a year, he has initiated empowerment programs that have directly uplifted hundreds of constituents members from poverty to wealth.

Ranging from ICT training for 75 youths—each equipped with HP laptops—to cosmetology and vocational training for dozens of young women and men, his initiatives are grounded in sustainability and practical outcomes. Notably, 200 youths were trained in the niche skill of silk plastering, complete with starter kits to ensure immediate entrepreneurial opportunities.

Beyond skills development, Hon. Jimbo’s generosity extends to direct material support. He distributed four first-grade Toyota Camry vehicles to deserving constituents and awarded business grants to 93 women, bolstering grassroots entrepreneurship. His response to food insecurity has been swift and substantial, with thousands of food items distributed—including rice, beans, garri, and cooking essentials—especially during flood relief efforts.

Demonstrating a commitment to long-term prosperity, Hon. Jimbo has facilitated employment opportunities for many constituents within key federal agencies such as the Nigerian Navy, Army, Police, Civil Defence Corps, and the Federal Civil Service. This strategic approach to job creation has empowered young people and strengthened national service.

Infrastructure development also features prominently in his agenda. Key projects such as the completion of Abak Village Hall, grading of the 8.10 km Ediene Abak–Etinan road, and installation of solar-powered streetlights at Ediene Abak and Premium FM Avenue have significantly enhanced community mobility, security, and night-time commerce.

Legislatively, Hon. Jimbo has been a proactive force, sponsoring pivotal bills including the establishment of the Federal School of Medical Laboratory Science in Midim, Abak, and a National Commission for Technology Transfer. His motions address critical issues like the collapsed Obiobom Bridge, food insecurity, press freedom, pension reforms, and fiscal accountability, showcasing his dedication to both local and national concerns.

His commitment to justice is evident in his advocacy for land compensation, the release of unlawfully detained individuals, and the reinstatement of public servants dismissed without cause. These actions underscore his unwavering dedication to equity and good governance.

Hon. Jimbo’s service excellence has earned him over 25 prestigious awards in recent years. These include the Award of Distinction from the International Network of Christian Students/Youth, the Distinguished Merit Award from the Nigerian Youth League, the Most Humanitarian Lawmaker of the Year from the 10th National Assembly Merit Awards, and recognition as an International Humanitarian Ambassador.

In a political landscape often marked by partisanship, Hon. Jimbo stands out as a compassionate, evidence-driven leader deeply engaged with his grassroots. He embodies hope for youth and communities eager for governance that reflects empathy, vision, and results.

His presence at the Peace Polytechnic ceremony was more than symbolic—it reflected the powerful synergy of education and visionary leadership working together to uplift society. The event reinforced the ethos that true success is measured not only by academic achievement but by how knowledge is harnessed to serve the common good.

As Peace Polytechnic charts its future—focused on expanding programs, upgrading infrastructure, and strengthening industry partnerships—Hon. Jimbo remains a steadfast ally in driving transformation.
