Akpabio, Eno’s second term uncertain – Primate Ayodele warns

Spiritual leader and founder of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Lagos, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has warned that the third-term ambitions of Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno are far from assured.

In a statement released on Sunday, August 3, and signed by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, Primate Ayodele cautioned that both leaders must be “very careful and prayerful” to avoid political setbacks in their bid to return to office. Senate President Godswill Akpabio must be very careful and prayerful to get a second term as senate president. I see his position being traded; he must work very hard to avoid it,” he warned.

Speaking on the governorship front, Ayodele listed Governor Umo Eno among seven governors whose return to office is in doubt.  He explained that without strategic efforts and spiritual commitment, their ambitions could be derailed.

“The governors of Akwa Ibom, Delta, Enugu, Cross River, Kaduna, Zamfara, and Ondo must work well to get a second term in office. It’s not certain for them except they work hard and pray. This is a hint of what they should be expecting,” he said. “They need to work very well so that they won’t lose their second-term ambition.”

Other governors on the list include Bassey Otu (Cross River), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Peter Mbah (Enugu), Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), and Uba Sani (Kaduna).

Ayodele also sent a strong message to legislators, stating that several prominent senators and members of the House of Representatives are at risk of losing their seats in the next election cycle. He singled out Delta lawmaker, Senator Ned Nwoko, advising him to hold off on any governorship aspirations. According to the cleric, “it is not yet his time.”
