Federal Lawmaker Fetes Constituent Journalists

‎A member of the National Assembly, representing Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ime Bassey Okon hosted media professionals from across the constituency in an informal gathering at his residence in Mbak Itam, Itu Local Government Area in a penultimate week.

‎In his welcome address, the Federal Lawmaker described the gathering as an informal festive gathering that is organized for the purpose of celebrating the season with members of the media, rather than a formal press meeting.

‎He described the essence of the gathering as sharing with professionals and getting feedbacks from them and reconnect with old friends, “This meeting is not a formal media interaction, but a friendly opportunity to share a meal with media professionals from within the constituency. I am truly delighted that this occasion has allowed me to reconnect with old acquaintances and to meet many people from the Federal Constituency whom I had not seen for some time, or did not even know were from our area”.

‎ Rt. Hon. Ime Bassey Okon took time off to appreciate all media professionals that were present, for the good and excellent work they do within the media circle and restated his unwavering commitment to serving the people while addressing the nature of legislative work.

‎He highlighted some of his achievements during the legislative year to include a free medical and surgical outreach that assisted over 1,000 constituent members, educational support for more than 300 undergraduates and other projects that has helped people in Itu and Ibiono Ibom. ‎He encouraged the practitioners to always bring forward genuine concerns, assuring them that his office remains open to receive their inputs.

‎During interactive sessions, Journalists among others urged him to use his office to create possible solutions and facilitate interventions in areas of critical needs. ‎The event was attended by several media professional from private, public, print, electronic, online and digital media.
