Princess (Amb.) Dr Victoria Ibokette, a chieftain of the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA), has formally affirmed her ambition to contest for the Senate seat representing Akwa Ibom North-East (Uyo) Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections.

Dr Ibokette made her ambition known during a meeting with the National Chairman of the DLA, H.E. Samuel Memeh, in Abuja, where she formally informed the party leadership of her decision to seek the party’s platform to contest the election.

The development was contained in a press release issued by the Media Office of Princess Dr. Victoria Ibokette, signed on her behalf and made available to Century Newsfront. According to the statement, the meeting between Ibokette and the DLA National Chairman was held on October 1, 2026, and provided an opportunity for the candidate to present her political ambition to the party leadership and seek guidance ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking to the press after the meeting, Ibokette expressed appreciation to Memeh for what she described as his warm reception, counsel and encouragement, “I officially informed our amiable National Chairman today of my desire to serve. I am running to represent the good people of Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District at the Red Chambers,” she said.

The candidate also pledged to remain committed to the ideals and constitution of the DLA, while indicating that her campaign would focus on issues affecting the people rather than personalities.

She identified Integrity, Progress and Representation as the central principles that would guide her political campaign as she seeks to represent the senatorial district at the National Assembly. Ibokette further described her candidature as part of a broader effort to provide what she termed quality representation for the people of the district, “the journey to rescue and quality representation has officially begun,” she stated.

The DLA National Chairman, according to the statement, commended Ibokette for her courage, capacity and record of service and wished her well in her political consultations. Memeh was also quoted as expressing confidence in her ability to perform effectively if elected to the Senate, “I have seen in you what I expect. You will be the best Senator,” the National Chairman said.

The declaration is expected to pave the way for further consultations with political stakeholders, party members, women, youth and other groups across Akwa Ibom North-East as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 elections.
