The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed Friday, October 9, 2026 for the commencement of the display of the National Register of Voters and collection of Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) by eligible voters who registered or transferred their voting locations during the first phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in Akwa Ibom State.

The exercise, which covers voters who participated in the CVR conducted between August and December 2025, will take place at the 329 Registration Areas (RAs)/Wards across the state from October 9 to 15, 2026, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Mondays to Fridays.

The development which was made available to Century Newsfront contained in a public notice issued by the Head, Voter Education and Publicity, INEC Akwa Ibom State, Geraldine Ekelemu, on behalf of the Resident Electoral Commissioner.

INEC urged eligible voters to use the exercise to check their names on the displayed register and verify their polling units. The Commission said voters who registered or transferred their voting locations during the first phase should visit the designated collection centres in their respective Registration Areas/Wards to collect their PVCs.

According to the notice, voters are required to present their registration slips or printouts for verification before collecting their cards. INEC stressed that PVC collection by proxy would not be allowed, in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2026. The Commission further announced that from October 16, 2026, PVC collection would be conducted at INEC Local Government Area offices across the 31 Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom State.

INEC urged all eligible voters to take advantage of the exercise to verify their polling units and collect their PVCs ahead of the 2027 General Election. The Commission also assured the public of its commitment to ensuring that all eligible voters are given the opportunity to collect their Permanent Voters’ Cards.
