The Akwa Ibom State Chapter of the EYEWITNESS NETWORK, a socio-political support organisation advocating the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has commenced a comprehensive grassroots mobilisation programme across the 31 Local Government Areas of the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a release by the Media & Communications Directorate of the organization said that the decision was reached at a strategic meeting of the State Executive Council held on Friday, August 14, 2026 in Uyo, where the State leadership reviewed its organisational structure and mapped out plans to establish a formidable presence at the Local Government, ward and polling-unit levels.
Addressing members of the State Executive Council, the State Director of the Network, Josephine Ekpa, said the 2027 elections were fast approaching and urged members to commence early grassroots engagement and voter sensitisation.
She said the Network would intensify efforts to communicate the policies, programmes and achievements of the Tinubu administration to Nigerians, particularly at the grassroots.
According to Ekpa, Akwa Ibom State had benefited from various Federal Government interventions and projects, which she said should receive greater public awareness through sustained communication and community-level engagement.
She announced that the immediate priority of the State chapter would be the activation of EYEWITNESS NETWORK structures across the 31 Local Government Areas, wards and polling units. She also encouraged members to promote voter education and sensitisation, including encouraging eligible citizens to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking, the National Secretary of EYEWITNESS NETWORK, Dr. Saviour Ekpe who conveyed a message from the national leadership, directed the Akwa Ibom chapter to commence comprehensive grassroots mobilisation across the state. He charged the State Executive Council to build a strong and effective grassroots structure capable of mobilising support for President Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.
Dr. Ekpe said the national leadership was encouraged by what he described as the reform agenda of the Tinubu administration, particularly efforts toward restructuring Nigeria’s governance framework and strengthening the principles of true federalism.
He commended the Akwa Ibom leadership for its commitment and urged members to remain united, disciplined and focused on the objectives of the Network.
Dr. Ekpe further stated that EYEWITNESS NETWORK remained open to Nigerians who shared its objective of supporting the continuation of the Tinubu administration, irrespective of their individual political affiliations.
The State Secretary, Comrade Edianaobong Benson, solicited the cooperation of members, stressing that the success of the grassroots mobilisation programme would depend on collective commitment, coordination and effective leadership.
Also speaking, the Coordinator of the Akwa Ibom Christian Network (AKICEM), Apostle Charles Udoh, said the organisation had collapsed its structure, comprising over 3,000 members across the state, into the EYEWITNESS NETWORK.
The meeting subsequently resolved to connect, organise and strengthen the Network’s presence across every Local Government Area, ward and polling unit in Akwa Ibom State.

Iko-Obong Ekette — Director of Mobilisation; Ndifreke Friday Elijah — Director of Strategy and Planning; Obong-Iwaad Moses Bassey E. — State Director of Research and Policy; Mfonobong Ukpong — Director of Media & Communications; John Thomas — Director of Protocol; Hon. Godfrey Effiong Samuel — Director of Membership Registration and Uwem Solomon Ekpa — State Provost.
Present at the meeting were the National Woman Leader, Idongesit Okon Bassey; National Financial Secretary, Pst. Erikan Festis and Zonal Director of Mobilisation, Apostle Peters Fresh.
