Ikot Ekpene LG Council Partners BRICC/NMCF For Religious Awakening

The Executive Chairman of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, Hon. (Elder) Aniefiok Okon Nkom, has reaffirmed the council’s commitment to partnering with faith-based and community-oriented organizations for sustainable development and social transformation.

Represented by the Supervisor for Political and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. (Elder) Ubongabasi Equot, the Chairman made this known during the establishment of the maiden unit of the Nigerian Military Christian Fellowship (NMCF), Ikot Ekpene Unit, hosted by the Bright International Chaplain Corps (BRICC) at Mantle of Life Ministry International, Ikot Ekpene Town, on Saturday, June 20, 2026.

Speaking at the event, the Council Boss stressed the importance of spiritual and moral values in nation-building, “We will partner with BRICC/NMCF because in a time like this, everybody needs God. Organizations that promote godliness, discipline, integrity and service to humanity deserve the support of government and society,” he stated.

The event themed, “Continued Humanity, Trust and Service Under God” brought together members of BRICC, stakeholders of the Nigerian Military Christian Fellowship, security personnel, clergy and community leaders.

In his address, the leadership of BRICC described the inauguration of the pioneer NMCF unit as a significant step toward strengthening spiritual support and fellowship among security personnel and the wider community. The establishment of the fellowship unit was also dedicated to the celebration of the 63rd birthday of the BRICC Founder and Lead Corps Chaplain General, Apostle (Dr.) Tom Ekerendu, as well as his 36 years of voluntary service to Nigerian security personnel and 40 years of full-time missionary work.

According to the organizers, the pioneer unit is expected to serve as a beacon of faith, wisdom, unity and resilience for security personnel and residents within the area. Drawing inspiration from BRICC’s operational principles, participants were encouraged to uphold the values of Covenant, Focus and Wisdom in service to God and humanity.

The organizers emphasized that BRICC’s vision, shaped by international chaplaincy experiences, centres on building resilience, integrity, community and capacity among individuals and institutions. Highlighting the spirit of collective responsibility, speakers likened the fellowship’s commitment to the principle of mutual support, stressing that members must stand together in times of need and challenges.

The event featured Bible study sessions, devotional activities, choir ministrations and the presentation of Awards PATRONS by the Bright International Chaplain Corps (BRICC) to aid in the Expansion and Advancement of the Goodnews of Christ through the team spirit with the Nigerian Military Christian Fellowship (NMCF) Akwa Ibom Chapter includes: DCC Boniface Momoh of the Ikot Ekpene Custodial center; ACP. Benjamin Kunle, ( NPF) Ikot Ekpene Area Commander; CSC Ndarake Uyire and Rev. Akan Itanga (The Snr. Pastor) Mantle of Life Ministry Int’L in Ikot Ekpene Town.

Participants also used the occasion to call for greater unity among members of the Nigerian Military Christian Fellowship, noting that cooperation and mutual support remain essential for the success of the organization and the communities it serves.

The gathering concluded with prayers for peace, security and national development, as men and officers of the Nigerian Police Force, Nigerian Correctional Service, Federal Road Safety Corps. Peace Corps, Nigerian Legion. Others include, the Nigerian Immigration Service; CHAPOL; Nigerian Barr Association (NBA), Ikot Ekpene Branch and the Bright International Chaplain Corps (BRICC) Noble Stakeholders and members of the Public attended in their large numbers while it was announced that the next fellowship meeting will be hosted by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Headquarters in Uyo for the July edition
